Fritz Kuchler, who had previously worked as a salesman for weighing machines in his father’s company alongside school and studies, takes over the company with 5 employees at the age of 23 after his father’s death in spring. Already in September he became the youngest Bizerba general representative for regional sales.
The development department was founded – Kuchler Electronic Constructions. This enabled a vision to become reality: slicing machine with automatic slicing and depositing without the help of the hand. The revolutionary innovation of the microprocessor was at the root of this development. Patent application for the new development: Mechanical depositing system with electronic control. In 1970 and 1971 Patents were granted for 5 countries.
The worlds first electronic slicer is born by Kuchler. First presentation of the world novelty “Electronically controlled depositing system”, which was integrated into a Bizerba slicer, in Klagenfurt/Austria. This leads to great sales success. Bizerba receives the sales rights for the sale of this Kuchler/Bizerba appliance combination for the rest of Austria and Germany.
Kuchler began series production for the refinement of Kuchler/Bizerba slicing machines with electronic depositing systems from Kuchler.
Construction of a new Kuchler production (300 m2) in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee/Austria with direct highway access.
Still today all S.A.M. devices are built in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee/Austria.
Kuchler becomes independent and launches a complete range of patented system slicers and electronic shop scales under the S.A.M. brand.
The distribution of S.A.M. equipment in Austria is initially carried out via dealers, with the exception of the supply of large customers, such as “Konsum Österreich”.
With the founding of Kuchler Electronics GmbH and Kuchler Electronics Deutschland GmbH, direct sales can be made without intermediaries in Austria and Germany.
The presentation of the S.A.M. equipment at the international trade fair IFFA in Frankfurt becomes a great success. Television and press report about S.A.M.
Contracts with representative dealers from 8 countries were signed, which require an immediate expansion of production.
Winner of the Innovation Award of the city of Klagenfurt for the S.A.M. System Slicers product line in 1990. In the following years a company is founded in Holland, selling directly to Holland and Belgium. Hobart sells the S.A.M. systems in the USA.
Foundation of Rent-a-Chalet (Kuchler Group) as the forerunner of todays S.A.M. Innovations GmbH & Co KG.
A supply contract is concluded with Berkel Germany for S.A.M. devices under the Berkel Type VA/TA brand.
After receiving the second Innovation Award of the city of Klagenfurt for computer-aided slicing, depositing and packaging system C.A.S. (the predecessor of Slice & Pak Systems), Kuchler Electronics CR s.r.o., Kuchler Electronics US Inc. and KIS Kuchler Intelligent Solutions were founded from 1998 to 2000.
In 2001 the first Slice & Pak devices S.A.M. Handpak and S.A.M. P1 were launched. The introduction of the patent model S.A.M. P2 and the branded packaging SamPak (MFP-Multi Fresh Pack) in 2002 leads to great successes in Germany, Czech Republic, Holland, Belgium and Switzerland.
Foundation of Kuchler Electronics Schweiz GmbH. In the next two years S.A.M Slice & Pak systems gain further market shares – with new customers such as Edeka, Metro Future Store, Carrefour, Coop and Manor as well as the cooperation with Avery Berkel France. Introduction of the new “S.A.M. Compact Slicing and Packaging System K”.
Completion of the new factory building in Klagenfurt extended to 4500 m² with state-of-the-art equipment, including safety and organizational improvements.
Further developments included: the price labelling device PAZ, S.A.M. T-Pak with integrated scales, S.A.M. Robo Packer S. & T., S.A.M. 300S (for salmon) and carts for cut goods with fully automated self-clamping. S.A.M Kuchler continues to win more customers and increase market shares in the following years
As the winner of the “Hidden Champion” award: Kuchler continues to develop rapidly over the next few years as an SME niche world champion (for 43 years). Several prototypes such as S.A.M. X2 Fast Operation, S.A.M. 3X RP pi, S.A.M. PX3, S.A.M. Restespiker, S.A.M. Pitcher, SamClean are developed. In 2014 the first S.A.M. PX3 was. In 2015, newly developed S.A.M. Robot X3, S.A.M. Robo Packer New and S.A.M. Film Automatic, were ready for delivery.
Due to ongoing R&D developments, more than 500 patents have been granted, to date. Constantin Kuchler joins the company as head of the marketing department.
Launch of the X-series devices.
The first fully networkable intelligent cutting systems are born and presented at the EuroShop in Düsseldorf.
Constantin Kuchler is appointed co-CEO.
S.A.M. supplies the first online supermarkets with slicing systems.
